Amsterdam has a buzzing nightlife scene, with numerous accessible bars, clubs and venues. The list below is by no means exhaustive and will grow as I discover more wheelchair-friendly locations for a fun night out.

Club Canvas

LOCATION: AMSTERDAM oost (east)
On Fridays and Saturday nights, Canvas Rooftop Bar transforms into Club Canvas. Club Canvas hosts various DJs and is open from 23.00 – 2.00. Click here to visit the Volkshotel website, jump to the Canvas page, or read the Club Canvas House Rules.

  • Accessible via main Volkshotel entrance with manually operated doors. There is a ramp at the upstairs entrance to Canvas.
  • Lift
  • Accessible toilet with support rails (ground floor)
  • Detachable payment terminal
  • Service dogs permitted in entire Volkshotel
  • Close to public transportation (5 min)
  • The outdoor terrace is not accessible (staircase only)
  • The Volkshotel entrance doors on the ground floor are very heavy. Mobility aid users will probably need assistance to enter.

Juniper & Kin

LOCATION: AMSTERDAM oost (east)
Juniper & Kin is a trendy bar with a view on one of the top floors of QO Amsterdam. The menu is filled with a selection of drinks, from your classic G&T to unique cocktails with fresh ingredients from the bar’s own rooftop greenhouse. Click here to read more about Juniper & Kin. 

  • Accessible via main QO Amsterdam entrance. There is a ramp at the upstairs entrance to Juniper & Kin.

  • Low tables and variety of chairs

  • Close to public transportation (5 min)
  • Part of the bar near the window is not currently accessible as there is a step down.
  • The QO Amsterdam entrance doors will need to be opened with assistance.

Lotti's Cafe, Bar & Grill

LOCATION: AMSTERDAM city CENTRE
Lotti’s is located along Amsterdam’s picturesque Herengracht. Open every day from 7 am – 1 am, it’s the perfect place to relax on plush sofas, study at a table, or grab a late night cocktail at the bar.   • Entrance with manually operated door and small threshold. There is an electric wheelchair platform down to restaurant
  • Lift
  • Accessible toilet with support rails
  • Low tables and variety of chairs
  • Detachable payment terminal
  • Close to public transportation (7 min)
  • Ask a member of staff to unlock the toilet door
  • You may need assistance in a manual wheelchair as there is a pavement and very small ground height difference outside at the entrance
  • In some areas tables and chairs are quite close together, so you may have to ask someone to move aside in order to pass through
  • Service dogs not permitted

Melkweg

LOCATION: AMSTERDAM city CENTRE
A key player in Amsterdam’s nightlife scene, Melkweg hosts live concerts, club nights, and festivals. Click here to visit the Melkweg website and see what’s on. 

Additional useful information: Oz, Max and Upstairs can all be entered in a wheelchair. Max venue also has a special wheelchair platform with an assistance button.

Paradiso

LOCATION: AMSTERDAM city CENTRE
Paradiso is one of Amsterdam’s important music venues, hosting upcoming and well-known artists from around the globe.   • Accessible entrance with ramp at the side of the Paradiso building

  • Accessible toilet with support beams (in basement)
  • Close to public transportation (1 min)
  • If needed for medical reasons, Paradiso staff are happy to provide visitors with a chair.
  • Paradiso does not recommend bringing service dogs as the noise levels can be very high
  • The 2nd balcony is not accessible

Tunes Bar

LOCATION: AMSTERDAM oud zuid (old south)
Tunes Bar is a classy cocktail bar inside the Conservatorium Hotel. The drinks menu includes everything from whisky, scotch and sake,  to wine, champagne, and a range of colourful cocktails.
