Jewish Museum Junior
The Jewish Museum is located in the Jewish Cultural Quarter of Amsterdam. This museum is dedicated to Jewish religion, history, and culture, and follows the story of Jewish settlers to The Netherlands from the 1600s onwards. Permanent and temporary exhibitions shed light on Jewish customs, rituals, and more. In addition, the Jewish Museum Junior is a section for children ages 6-12. For more information, please see the Jewish Museum website.
Accessibility
The main entrance to the Jewish Museum has steps. The wheelchair-accessible entrance is via the ‘service’ entrance. If you are in need of the wheelchair-friendly entrance, inform the security guard. At the service entrance there is a doorbell (though this may be too high for some) which you (or the security guard) can press to lead you through this entrance.
A member of staff will then lead you through and operate the main door to the lift.
To access the temporary exhibition, wheelchair users will need to use a platform lift. The lift near the reception desk can be used independently. The lift down to the second basement will have to be used with assistance of a staff member. The maximum weight for the platform lift is 200 kg.
Generally most screens and items on display are within sight of wheelchair users, though some of the touch screens that are horizontally placed are difficult to see if seated.
