Amsterdam has a buzzing nightlife scene, with numerous accessible bars, clubs and venues. The list below is by no means exhaustive and will grow as I discover more wheelchair-friendly locations for a fun night out.

Barca

LOCATION: AMSTERDAM oud zuid (old south)
Barca is a colourful and lively Catalan restaurant & bar. The menu is filled with all sorts of drinks, as well as  lunch, tapas, and dinner options. Click here to visit Barca’s website, or jump straight to their menu.

  • Ramp at entrance
  • Accessible toilet with support beams
  • Low tables
  • Detachable payment terminal
  • Service dogs permitted
  • Close to public transportation (4 min)
  • Ask a member of staff to unlock the toilet door
  • The entrance ramp is quite steep. Simple manual wheelchairs would tip backwards without someone supporting the chair from behind.
  • The entrance has two heavy doors. Customers with mobility aids will likely need someone to help with the second door.

Club Canvas

LOCATION: AMSTERDAM oost (east)
On Fridays and Saturday nights, Canvas Rooftop Bar transforms into Club Canvas. Club Canvas hosts various DJs and is open from 23.00 – 2.00. Click here to visit the Volkshotel website, jump to the Canvas page, or read the Club Canvas House Rules.

  • Outdoor terrace is not accessible (staircase only)
  • The Volkshotel entrance doors on the ground floor are very heavy. Mobility aid users will probably need assistance to enter.

Lotti's Cafe, Bar & Grill

LOCATION: AMSTERDAM city CENTRE
Lotti’s is located along Amsterdam’s picturesque Herengracht. Open every day from 7 am – 1 am, it’s the perfect place to relax on plush sofas, study at a table, or grab a late night cocktail at the bar. Lotti’s serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts and a variety of drinks. Click here to read more.

  • Close to public transportation (7 min)
  • Ask a member of staff to unlock the toilet door
  • You may need assistance in a manual wheelchair as there is a pavement and very small ground height difference outside at the entrance
  • In some areas tables and chairs are quite close together, so you may have to ask someone to move aside in order to pass through
  • Service dogs not permitted

Melkweg

LOCATION: AMSTERDAM city CENTRE

  • Oz, Max and Upstairs can all be entered in a wheelchair

  • Max venue has a special wheelchair platform with an assistance button
  • Indoor balcony for better visibility
  • Service dogs permitted (but please email in advance)
  • Close to public transportation (3 min)
  • Disabled parking spaces nearby
  • During concerts, not all venues inside Melkweg have a special wheelchair platform. Email in advance to see what adaptations can be made.

Moqum

LOCATION: Amsterdam ZUID (SOUTH) 
Open daily from 14.00 – 1.00, Moqum is a stylish bar located inside the Van der Valk Hotel Amsterdam-Amstel. The drinks menu includes a range of (non) alcoholic beverages: from coffee, tea, and soft drinks, to beer, wine, classic cocktails, whiskey, cognac, and much more.   • Ground floor. Entrance to restaurant via the Van der Valk Hotel Amsterdam-Amstel. The main lobby entrance has a spacious revolving door with a wheelchair button to slow down the speed
  • Lift to upper floors and restaurants
  • Accessible toilet with support rails (in adjoining hotel lobby)
  • Low tables
  • Variety of chairs
  • Detachable payment terminal
  • Service dogs permitted
  • This restaurant is not close to accessible public transportation, but can be easily reached by car
  • Tables and chairs are quite close together in some areas. Mobility aid users may need to ask other customers to make space in order to pass through the seating area.

Paradiso

LOCATION: AMSTERDAM city CENTRE
Paradiso is one of Amsterdam’s important music venues, hosting upcoming and well-known artists from around the globe.   • If needed for medical reasons, Paradiso staff are happy to provide visitors with a chair.
  • All areas except 2nd balcony are accessible
  • Accessible toilet with support beams (in basement)
  • Close to public transportation (1 min)
  • Paradiso does not recommend bringing service dogs as the noise levels can be very high
  • The 2nd balcony is not accessible

Tunes Bar

LOCATION: AMSTERDAM oud zuid (old south)
Tunes Bar is a classy cocktail bar inside the Conservatorium Hotel. The drinks menu includes everything from whisky, scotch and sake,  to wine, champagne, and a range of colourful cocktails.
