Royal 98

A bowl of yoghurt, granola and blueberries and a stack of pancakes with blueberries, raspberries, mint and powdered sugar at Royal 98 in Amsterdam

Located along Dam Square, Royal 98 is a restaurant, bakery, and deli. This restaurant is especially known for its fresh pasta and wood oven pizzas, serving a variety of dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Royal 98 is also a great place for a cosy cup of coffee or tea. Click here for more information.

* Please note that the accessible toilet at Royal 98 is smaller than most. The turning space is tight. Click here for photos. Larger accessible toilets can be found at the nearby Royal Palace of Amsterdam and Bijenkorf Kitchen.

Accessibility

  • Entrance with automatic doors via adjacent Swissotel

  • Accessible toilet with support rails, however this toilet is smaller than most

  • Low tables and a variety of chairs

  • Mobile payment terminal

  • Close to public transportation (3 min)

  • I recommend using the Swissotel entrance with wide automatic doors. The doorway leading from the hotel into the restaurant has a small 1 cm threshold.

  • The accessible toilet is too small for larger wheelchairs because the turning space is tight, especially when both support rails are down.

Toilets

The space is very limited. This makes it very challenging (if not impossible) to turn with larger wheelchairs/ mobility aids. The limited space also makes it impossible to park a wheelchair in front of the toilet. Click here for photos of the toilet.

If you are in need of a more spacious toilet, I recommend the accessible toilets at De Bijenkorf Kitchen and the Royal Palace of Amsterdam (both along Dam Square).
